Early colonists in the New World often saw eagles soaring in the clean, clear skies above them. Wherever there were tall trees and lakes or streams there were eagles. People came to think of this bird, like we do today, as a bird of great dignity, superb strength, keenness of sight and marvelous powers of flight. What could have been more natural than for the fathers of our country to have chosen this bird as our national symbol? Today most Americans have never seen the bald eagle in its natural habitat. Through the concentrated efforts of many people, our national symbol, the Bald Eagle, has recently had the privilege of being removed from the ranks of the endangered species. The American Bald Eagle Foundation, a private, non- profit 501c(3) organization, relies on memberships, its gift shop and generous donations from wonderful people like you throughout the world. We hope you will consider becoming a supporter of the American Bald Eagle Foundation. Your donation or membership is totally tax deductible. To
