Most people arriving into Haines via Juneau. This means you must first take a jet to Juneau via Alaska Airlines.

From Juneau you can take either the Alaska Marine Highway SystemAlaska Seaplanes or Wings of Alaska into Haines.

You can also drive in from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. However the road is often snow covered and icy.

There are a variety of hotels you can choose to stay at in Haines, though two offer discounted rates for Bald Eagle Festival goers. When calling to reserve, you will need to mention the special Alaska Bald Eagle Festival rate to secure this pricing.

Most hotels in Haines are in walking distance to everything you’ll need in town, and the ABEF can provide you with a shuttle to and from the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. However if you’re interested in renting a vehicle this can be done through Avis, Lynn View Lodge, or the Captain’s Choice.

Restaurants are limited at this time of year, but there are usually between two and three that are open. During this week, there are also community dinners which we encourage guests to attend.
