Taku is a Female American Kestrel who hatched in Pennsylvania in 2023. She was previously trained as a falconry bird and joined the American Bald Eagle Foundation in 2025. Her name, Taku, comes from the Tlingit language and means “Fierce Wind. Taku is energetic and alert, often seen hopping from perch to perch while chirping and chittering. If you are fortunate, you may observe one of the Kestrel’s most remarkable adaptations—hovering in place over the ground as she focuses intently on potential prey.
